I’ve got a little scene set up with a couple cameras and a couple AR modules going on, one of which being DOF. And when DOF is off, it looks great, just not the shortened, blurred out in front and back look I want yet. the problem is, when I turn DOF on, it gets very, very dark.

Further explanation: There are no lights in the scene, just surfaces with luminance and object glow. So I’ve got all these glowing blue things, and then as soon as it does the depth pass almost everything goes dark. I don’t really understand all the settings in the DOF module, and I think that’s pretty common, but I’ve never had this particular problem before, and I was wondering if it had something to do with all the light in the scene coming from luminance channels?

The rundown on modules: GI and Ambient Occlusion, Object Glow (which seems to disappear completely on DOF) and color correction (bumping gamma to 2.2, I’ve tried disabling this).

For now I’m doign a depth pass to AE and seeing what I can do there, but I’d like to know the answer.

I think the dof effect is killing the glow effect, since they’re both poste effects. I would render a depth pass and do the glow and DOF effect in post.
