  • Dell M6600 Fiber Connection

    Hi everyone,

I am looking to see if there is an option for a fiber connection for a Dell M6600? Whether it is a docking station, adapter, etc.

Dell was of no help and didn’t know what fiber was.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Magma (and others, e.g. Startech) make ExpressCard-to-PCIe expansion chassis that a Fibre Channel card will likely work in.

Magma ExpressBox 1 ($829) is single lane PCIe 1.1 solution with a 2.5Gbs (250MB/s) bandwidth. Fibre Channel supports speeds higher than that, so the first question is, will that bandwidth of 250MB/s work for the task?

The second part will be to figure out if the Fibre Channel card will in that chassis. Generally it should.

I’m not sure about the speed, but I will take a look at your suggestion. Once I figure out the speed, I will post back. Thanks so much!
