  • Deleting unwanted parts of a clip to consolidate event files

This is probably an incredibly stupid question but I’ve been wondering about it for ages never found an answer for ☺

I would love to ‘clean up’ my event files before I archive. I generally delete clips that are substandard, but there are times of course where I may use just 2 seconds from a 20 seconds clip as we all do. I’d like to essentially trim and delete the outside of my in and out points in the event viewer. I am guessing this may be difficult because FCPX would have to re-render that clip which may affect quality… am I mad even wanting this or is there a simple solution to save a bit of HD space? Thanks heaps.

FCPX doesn’t support doing that – nobody really knows why Apple decided not to – but you can achieve it by sending the completed project to Resolve or by using an app like Worx4X.

Thanks very much Jeff. At least I’m not going mad 🙂

Definitely add that to the feedback to Apple. I have.
