Deleting dead audio space with Vegas
I am a newbie to Vegas. I just got it installed and really only know the basics. So forgive my very elementary question.
I shot a concert in HD on my Canon consumer camcorder. For some unknown reason, it broke the concert up into like 1/2 hour clips instead of just recording it as a whole single event.
I imported the clips into my storyline using Vegas 8 pro.
When I play it back, there is a dead spot of sound for a millisecond between one clip to the next.
When I zoom into the gap between the clips, I can see the dead space that needs to be removed. My problem is, I cant get the cursor to sit dead at the end of the first clip. It keeps staying back a little bit.
How do I advance frame by frame to the end of the audio in clip one and the beginning of clip 2 so that I can delete this empty space?

Storyline? Are you using Vegas 8 Pro or Movie Studio Pro? It’s “storyboard” or “timeline”.
The right and left arrow keys will move 1 frame at a time. I don’t believe you can move only a half frame though.

When you switch off the OPTIONS-QUANTIZE TO FRAMES, you can move inbetween frames. However, I don’t know whether that is very useful to do or whether this will or will not interfere with the quality of the rendering. I never tried…

I made a .vf file and rendered it as .mpg (mpeg1).
When I checked out the MPG file, I realized that it was 20-odd minutes long. The actual movie is 3-3/4 minutes; the rest is dead time.The .vf file is the same. I attempted to select and delete, also cut. What am I missing?

Marcia, load up your project and go the end of the timeline.
Adds are that there’s a tiny sliver of something there.
Zoom in so that you can see what it is and delete it.
Go back to the beginning and back to the end again to make sure that it’s now at the proper length.
Re-save and re-render it.
