  • Delete After Effects Preference File?

    Hey guys,
I need help as fast as possible! I recently kinda destroyed my after effects when i was editing the preferences. In “Video Preview” I have choosen some other option. That was the biggest mistake I could ever do, because my AE after that turned black. Everytime Im starting AE and make it the active window, the whole screen goes black and i just can see my mouse pointer and the dock. So i cannot go to the preferences menu again, not even by trying to open it via the shortcut.
I need to reset my preferences now because of that but I didnt find any way to do this.
Already tried reinstalling ae, didnt work

    I’m using Mac OS X 10.6 + AE CS4

    Thanks in advance!

If you’re on a Mac (you mention the dock) hold down the Command + Option + Shift keys as you start After Effects, this will allow you to delete the corrupt preference file. On a PC its Control + Alt + Shift.

I’m using afx cs5 on pc.
I’ve tried Control + Alt + Delete whilst starting but it just starts as normal. doesnt delete preference file.
I’ve tried searching for it too but cant find it. Is there any other way to delete preference file?
