It seems that there is a delay in the capture process on my FCP. On the monitor seeing both the output of the beta deck and the cinewave card, I see the video I am capturing go to black, I hit the esc key to stop it ( using capture now) bu the last of the video does not come in. The capture process stops before the spot is all in even though I see it go to black.

Yeah I know I could use the other way for capture…I like capture now. And this has been like this for a little while now. Just now had enough to complain.

    any thoughts?

    Hi Bob,

It’s been my experience with FCP that when things have been humming along just fine and then suddenly the program starts doing strange things the first thing I try is to trash the program’s preference files. Have you tried that yet?

Yeah I use FCP Rescue and run it a lot. The one glitch I still get is at time the system will not save the project file, any project to the internal system drive. I can close the app and repair permissions and then all will be fine. This issue with the capture is a few months old but is just strange.

Another unsual thing… When I do capture and I view the video straight from the deck, the vid is fine. But when I view the capture seeing the output of the Cinewave, the vid is rather nasty looking. Once captured though and I play the clip in the system, all is fine. any thoughts to this as well? Is my Cinewave card flaking out?

    Hi Bob,

Since I don’t have any experience with capture cards I’ll have to defer to someone else who’s willing to help you. I can only advise from my own experiences with FCP.

    Good luck.
