  • Delayed audio playback in canvas – ProRes 5D clip

Posted by Ariane Fisher on January 28, 2011 at 9:57 pm

I have some 5D clips (30fps) which I transcoded into ProRes 422 in Compressor, at 48kHz. I dropped them into a ProRes 422 30fps 48kHz timeline in FCP. Upon playback, each clip has no sound for the first few seconds. The bars in the timeline are gray, so it “should” play back fine.

I just did a test where I created a new sequence, dropped one of the clips in, conformed the sequence settings to the clip and it played back fine. When I added other clips and photos to the sequence the delay came back.

    Hangs head in shame…

I rebooted the computer and it works now. I checked the activity monitor before posting this to make sure I wasn’t running out of RAM. And I restarted FCP. Sorry. Well perhaps my dumb mistake with posted solution can help someone else.

You should try log and transfer via the Canon plug in for FCP.
