  • Delay effector in xpresso set up?

    Hey all,
using the Sound Effector to animate an extrusion via Xpresso (Sound>Sample>RangeMapper>Movement.Z) and although I’m getting the right results in terms of animation to audio, as usual with the Sound Effector, it’s pretty ‘jittery’. Have tried the usual falloff / cutoff / freq / compression etc but not really getting anywhere.
Was thinking I might be able to smooth things out with a Delay Effector but, to be honest, don’t know how to wire this into an Xpresso setup (where it goes etc).
I don’t want to put everything into a Fracture Object as I find ‘Explode Segments and Connect’ grinds things to a halt (and since I’m driving an extrusion via Xpresso, not even sure if a Mograph object is actually required / relevant in this case).
Anyone done this / could advise? Can’t find a specific thread / tutorial.

Alternatively, anyone had luck pre-running audio through reverb or somesuch audio effect? Thinking this might smooth things out (or might be nonsense…).

Anyway, as ever, grateful for any pointers.

    Hi,
gonna reply myself in case anyone’s got a similar question.

Found out something – the driver doesn’t have to have anything to do with the result which is something of a game-changer for me as far as Xpresso goes.

What I mean is that I popped just a cube (could be anything) into a Cloner, added a Sound Effector and Delay Effector in the Cloner’s Effector tab, dragged the Cloner into Xpresso –

    CLONER (out) ‘Object’ >
DATA NODE (in) ‘Object’ / (out) ‘Position’ >
RANGE MAPPER NODE (in) ‘Input’ / (out) ‘Output’ >
Pop whatever you want to control in here and attach the RANGE MAPPER’s output to it

Am keyframing the Delay value and Range Mapper parameters to taste but this very nicely calms the jitter right down.

    cheers.
