Delay between Audio And Video
Posted by Mark Mcdonald on October 24, 2006 at 2:32 pmI’ve set up 3 FCP systems in the last two weeks but one of them has me stumped.
I have a huge (nearly 5 secs) delay from the FCP system to the video monitor. Also
audio leads video by about 3 secs on the tape output. It is synced in FCP but big delay on output.
Any Thoughts??
Using Kona lHe and Breakout box

October 24, 2006 at 3:47 pmSorry, Working in another room at the same time.
all the systems are identical Mac Pro 2 x 3 ghz processors 5 gb ram 250gb hd 2 500gb internal storage drives (scratch use)
we use mixed footage Beta sp, DVcam, DVCpro 50 & 25, DVCpro HD. Everything works fine on two systems using:

Capture Preset: AJA Kona LH 525 29.97 DV
Video Playback : AJA Kona 525i29.97 8 bit 720 x 486

October 24, 2006 at 4:22 pmAre you monitoring the audio differently on this one system? You should be monitoring the audio directly out of the LHe.
Sounds like you’re watching the NTSC output and listening to the audio output from the computer.
Check your Sound Preferences too on the Mac. Make sure the AJA Kona is what you’re listening too.

A note I just got from AJA:
This sounds like the Kona is not in slot 3 and/or he has the Expansion Slot Utility set to config #1 not config#2
He also needs the V3.2 Kona driver.
So check these two things and report back.

October 24, 2006 at 4:53 pmThe Expansion Slot Utility seemed to do the trick. It was on the wrong assignment.
Thanks for your help!

Yeah, that’s a biggie and folks really need to follow that in the instructions. Something that’s new with the Mac Pros.
