How do Avid editors generally de-interlace their footage? Do you de-interlace footage prior to bringing it into the app?

Is there a way to go from 30i to 30p from within Avid?

I don’t deinterlace – if I need to, I’ll do it in Sorenson.

As far as switching between interlaced and progressive, I believe you need to select that when you start your project…

If your footage is interlaced – leave it interlaced throughout your post process until compressed.

There’s a quick and dirty way to deinterlace. A motion effect (not timewarp) set at 100% speed + duplicated fields does this.
