Hi, If I get footage from a Canon HV20 set to shoot 24p, it’ll convert it with a pulldown when it saves it to the tape.

My question is, if I use After Effects to remove the pulldown, will it actually reassemble the lines into true 24p or will it interpolate?

with 24p, there’s no interpolation… the interlaced frames are created by the frame preceding them and following them, so ae doesn’t need to interpolate any new pixels, unlike normal interlaced footage.

just remember, for ae to remove a pulldown each clip should be an individual shot, not a capture of several shots or an edited sequence.
