This is driving me nuts. For AE CC, the default audio output is set at 8khz. In spite of having created a custom template and changing it to 48khz, it changes back to the 8khz, every time. I keep having to re-render. Is there a way to change this so the default is 48khz?

This is fixed in the After Effects CC (12.2.1) bug-fix update, which is now available:

Note the part at the end of that page about a crucial update for the Creative Cloud desktop application, which addresses some severe problems with AME, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
