deeper into capture issues problem
G5-FCP 5.1.2/ Sony zU1—Still not up and running- so far I was able to capture dv but not hdv- tried making a new project file and was able to capture clips in hdv, saved, quit, booted up next morning —back to square one. Called Apple, they had me run Verify Permissions, came up with an error. So they are telling me to back up my hard drive and erase it and re-build. Before I do something this potentially disastrous, wondering if anyone has more ideas? I thought it might have just been a corrupt project file, but since it repeated the problem the next day I’m thinking it is more complex.

If Apple suggest a re-install then maybe that is the route u should go.
Format the Hard drive in the process – it’ll take ya half a day including installing all your software.
Let us know if it cures the prob. -
you said you ran “Verify Permissions” and it came up with an error …. are you sure that Apple didn’t tell you to “Repair Permissions”? that would be the normal advice.

No it was Verify- not Repair- the window on the right.

wel then “Repair” mu friend. press the “Repair Permissions” button … or are you in fact talking about “Verify Disk” (the button the right) not Verify Permisions?

yes verify disc- sorry- repair didn’t ‘highlight’ and I specifically asked about that as I have run that many times in the past.
