    Hello,
I’ve got a few videos on youtube that I have lost the source for. I need parts of the video and was thinking of pulling it from youtube. But of course it’s been compressed by youtube. Is there a way to “decompress” or at least minimize the compression added by youtube.

Loss from compression is permanent. The best you can do is prevent further loss by downloading at the highest quality and converting to a lossless or near lossless format.

Thanks for the reply. Yes but are there any known techniques to reduce the effect?

That depends on the issues you see. Generally, there’s a quality cost if you’re seeing something like banding and trying to fix it for example.
