My decks are suddenly not recognized. I am using a
Sony PVW-2800 beta deck and a DSR-1800 DVCam deck.
They each have lines coming from their RS-422 ports
that join into a Keyspan USB twin serial adapter. The
Avid never had a problem seeing and controlling them
up until now (and we wonder if a recent RAM upgrade
has anything to do with this issue.) So now when we
try to configure either deck so that it can be seen
and controlled by the Avid we get an error message
that says “The port ‘KeySerial1’ is busy and cannot be
used for deck control.” Not only are we not getting
deck control, the Avid will not even see the media.
The capture tool displays “No Deck” instead of
displaying time code. I read on a post that this
problem can be resolved by registering the DVBuffers.
    Well I tried running ” : regsvr32 DVBuffers.ax” in the
Terminal but it did not work. Does any body have any
    ideas?

Unfortunately…I too had that same issue today. I found that it was a bad cable. Which is frustrating because it was working 6 months ago. We just ordered a cable from B&H for $60 (this includes 3-day shipping…the cable is only $42)
I’m searching these forums too for another possible solution cuz I really don’t want to throw out this cable.
