I left my system alone for a very long time (over a year). Shortly after I started using it again, the hard drive failed on me so I got a new one and re-installed all my OS and software on that all over again

I’m back where I started when I first put the system together – the Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme 3D+ not working. Here’s the system details…

    Manufacturer – (Self Made)
    Processor: Intel i7 930 @ 2.80Ghz, 2794 Mhz (4 Cores) 8 Logical Processors
    Installed RAM: 16 GB Corsair DDR-3 CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 4GB sticks
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate, Service Pack 1, Version: 6.1.7601, Build 7601 (64-Bit Version)
Motherboard: Intel DX58S02 64 Bit (PCI-Express Enabled) based on the X58 chipset and ICH10R south bridge
BIOS Version: Intel Corp. SOX5820J.86A.0888.2012.0129.2203, 1/29/2012
    SMBIOS Version: 2.5
VGA Card: nVidia Quadro 5000 (Driver Version: 9.18.13.593)
RAID Adapter: ATTO: Express SAS R608-000 ESAS-R608-C00 (Driver Version:2.17)
Video Capture Card: BlackMagic Design – “DeckLink HD Extreme 3D+” (Driver Version 9.6.4)>>> Card installed in slot 4 of MoBo.

    Video Signal Source:
JVC BR-HD50 VCR (Mini-DV Tapes) Settings:
    Output via HDMI Port
    480i (Standard Definition) NTSC
Note: Menu was recheched – it is set to output via the HDMI port

    Windows 7 Ultimate Situation:
    Executables:
    1. Blackmagic Streaming Server
    2. Blackmagic Software Updater
    3. Blackmagic CheckVersion
All show up in the “System Configuration” App via MSconfig and the “Task Manager”

Device Manager >>> Sound, Video and Game Controllers:
    1. Black Magic Audio
    2. Blackmagic Decklink WDM Streaming
    3. Blackmagic Driver
All show up and are working properly

Control Panel >>> Hardware and Sound >>> Blackmagic Design Control Panel:
Set Input = HDMI Video and HDMI Audio

User Account Control = Never Notify

Note: Anti-Virus and Firewall were disabled while doing Blackmagic software install.

    Media Express Situation:
Decklink Card Shows up under the “Device” menu with a check next to it.
    Edit >>>Preferences Menu >>> Project Video Format : HD 720p 60
    >>> Capture File Format : AVI 8-Bit YUV

Note: I have switched the cable back and forth from both HDMI slots in rear of my PC but still no signal

I did log in as Administrator when I did the install

You have the deck listed as outputting NTSC 480I SD and Media Express listed as 720p, is that correct?

That 480i (Standard Defintion) was the format that the mini-DV tapes were recorded in.

    480i -> 704 x 480 pixels (60 interlaced frames/Sec) = 337,920 pixels total

The last time I had this working right (when I previously posted on this forum and got the recommended settings from Joshua
Director of Support at BlackmagicDesign), I switched them to those settings for the tape deck and same input settings from the Media Express App. and left them that way.

In The Dark with Blackmagic Design “Decklink HD Extreme 3D+” capture card – Sep 24, 2011 at 5:28:39 pm

I forgot to mention that , I tried re-installing the legacy 7.9.5 Blackmagic Design drivers also (as recommended by Joshua) in the previous post but that trick didn’t get some “magic” happening this time around.

Well, it’s been 3 weeks and still no reply from Blackmagic Design’s tech support team on my problem with this card.

So Shelling out $950.00 for this card essentially got me:

    1. a non-working card/ software drivers

    2. a non-working tech support system
