  • Decklink Studio – overkill for what I’m looking for?

    Goodmorning,

I’m needing to capture video from an s-video OR composite video source (either straight from 2 to 3 different cameras, OR, capturing out of an Edirol V8). Edirol can only output S-video or Composite.

So, I checked out the Decklink cards at the suggestion of a friend in the industry and I know that the Decklink Studio can do what I need…but I just feel that that is WAY to much overkill.

    Or is it?

If it is, are there any other basic capture cards that let you bring an s-video feed into a computers hard drive?

    Thanks for any help.

You could get a Digital – Analogue Convertor like the Canopus one so you connect your S-Video output and Audio, then you can capture via the Firewire cable from the convertor to your computer. Or even better just get a Blackmagic Intensity card, I am sure if does S-Video, not sure on composite though. it will serve you better as you will be able to input other connections later down the line line HDMI, etc. You can also monitor out to a TV monitor like a LCD via HDMI.
