  Decklink settings confusion

  Prior to our current workflow, we use to digitize from dvcpro tape, using black magic codec for capture. Now we have gone to card based ingest and ran into realtime playback issues with the settings on the decklink card versus the settings inside FCP.

  Our new workflow is to edit at 1080i 29.97, and when any setting is changed with a current project, we lose real time playback from FCP. The old decklink settings were 720×486 blackmagic 8 bit. Even though we haven’t used tape output, realtime playback has functioned fine. It’s when an existing project decklink settings are tweaked that realtime playback is broken and you have to render the timeline. This does not go over well with a half hour show!

  Is this due to the fact that once settings for the decklink have been decided upon, a new project will work fine but any old project with ties to the older decklink settings the root cause for losing real time desktop playback?

  The goal is to get Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ) on the decklink, so that we can add the Hyperdeck Shuttle to our output workflow.

  Any insight would be appreciated GREATLY… that’s an understatement!!!
