  • Decklink Pro HD (single) with PCI ADAT card…..will it work ok ?

I’m configuring a dual 2.7 Ghz G5 (2 gig ram) for use with Final Cut Studio and Decklink Pro HD (single link) card. I’ll also be
using Logic Pro 7 on the same computer for sound design/recording and am considering using the Frontier Design Wavecenter
PCI card (which gives you 16 channels of ADAT audio in/out) coupled with the Behringer DDX3216 digital mixer (with ADAT option).

Anyone else using a similar setup ? I’m curious as to whether the PCI audio card and Decklink card will load the PCI buss enough
to cause me problems with uncompressed 10 bit HD capture and playback.

Has anyone else run into problems using the two cards together ???

    thanks

    Hi Steve,

I’m not familiar with the Wavecenter card but looked it up on the web and it appears to be a conventional PCI card and not PCI-X. Therefore you will want to keep it on an independant bus from the Decklink HD Pro 4:2:2 card which is PCI-X to avoid disabling the HD functionality of the DeckLink card.

If you are also using a SCSI, SATA or Fiber Channel HBA (host bus adapter) which is PCI-X, then place the WaveCenter in slot 4 and the HBA and DeckLink cards in slots 2 and 3. If you are not using a HBA card, or it is a conventional PCI card, then place Decklink HD Pro 4:2:2 in slot 4 and the WaveCenter and HBA cards in slots 2 and 3.
