    Hy everyone,

    I am seriously thinking about buying decklink multibridge with pci express combined with an apple G5 2,7 GHZ dual processor and i am not sure about two things. First one: If I have the new multibridge connected through pci-x port do I still need to buy any kind of multibridga video capturing cards (something like decklink HD) or the new multibridge can function as both capture in out box and video editing card for multipurpose real time rendering and everything else. Second question: when is the new multibridge due to come out?

    Thanx in advance

    First question: The Multibridge include a Decklink card in the package, you don’t need to buy one. The SD version comes with a plain Decklink card (which is fine, since it connects through SDI) and the Mulltibridge HD comes with a Decklink HD (I don’t remember if HD or HD Pro). So, in any case, the PCI card is included.
    Second question: I don’t know, they said they were about to ship real soon.

    I could be way off base here, or just misinterpreting your answer. I don’t believe the multibridge comes with a PCI(X) card–I’m pretty sure it is meant to replace it.

    Multibridge —-> PCIe slot

    not

    Multibridge —-> Decklink ——> PCI-X slot

    “Connect the built-in PCI Express 10 Gbps connection to any supported Windows XP or Mac OS X based computer and Multibridge instantly turns into the ultimate break out box capture and playback solution.”

    The “instantly” part makes me believe it doesn’t require or come with a decklink card. Or perhaps you simply meant that decklink was integrated into multibridge.

    Wow, now *I’m* confused.

    You mean the just announced Multibridge Studio. I meant the Multbridge SD or HD.

    Multibridge doesn’t include a Decklink card. For SD Multibridge you can use the $295 Decklink card, for HD Multibridge you can use the $595 Decklink HD card. The newly announced Multibridge Studio and Extreme will use PCI-X to connect to supported PC motherboards or a PCI-bridge card to connect to an Apple G5. Expect to see the Studio and the Extreme sometime this summer.

    Cheers
