I have a quad G5 Adrenaline and I need to get my After Effects comp window out to my NTSC monitors. Can I use a Decklink card in this situation? Currently I’m using a little Sony firewire to svhs converter and it’s working OK, but I’d like to get component out and our other graphics rooms use decklink cards and they work terrific. I’m not looking for theoretical responses here, just actual users that have a similar set up.
    Thanks,

I don’t know that a Decklink card will work, but I think Avid gives you what you need on the install CD–it’s called Avid EMP. It will allow you to port After Effects to your NTSC or PAL monitors (whichever flavor you use), and I think it routes it through the Adrenaline box or Mojo, whichever a person has. Simply shut down Avid and AE, install Avid EMP, then fire AE up and set your output.

I’ve not used it, but I believe the downfall is that you can’t have Avid open while using AE or they’ll fight over resources and it won’t work.

I’m thinking of installing it on our systems here to give it a test run. Let me know if it works for you and it what you’re looking for, and if I run into problems with both programs running I’ll let you know.

    Mike.

EMP is PC only at this juncture. I’m guessing there’s a chance EMP will work with the Intel Mac boxes in the not too distant future, but I need a solution now.
    Thanks
