Why are there Male BNC connectors for AES/EBU, when most cables are XLR type? Am I really going to have to pay $75+ for two impedence transformers and mo $ for cables? Please advise.
    Thanks.

Because technically Decklink is using SPDIF…. 95% of the time, you can plug a cheap RCA->XLR converter to it and most machines will read AES (DAT’s, Digibeta, etc…).

It is a little frustrating, though.

    Thanks CharlieX,

Could I just cut off the male BNC and put on an XLR connector?

Uh, probably… but I wouldn’t go cutting my OEM cables without good reason 🙂
