Hopefully a Decklink guru may know what’s going on here:

Trying to assemble edit to a DVW-A500 via SDI and embedded audio. After recording, picture looks fine, but the audio has a ‘gritty’ texture when playing back (also via SDI embedded). Sounds almost like mis-matched sample-rates (media is uncompressed 10-bit NTSC, 16bit, 48Khz audio.

However, if use the “print-to-tape” function via the same signal path, everything sounds great. Huh???

Anyone experienced this whacky behavior before?

    NTSC reference via Tektronix SG

    Thanks,

    Hi,

It’s possibly a reference issue. Check your VTR’s reference settings. If you’re not locked to house sync, switch the deck to reference the input video.

    Hi Kristian,

Thanks for your advice. It was indeed a reference issue. Setting the DVW’s OUTPUT REF switch to INPUT fixed the problem. However, I was feeding both the card and the DVW house sync, so I don’t see why this was an issue with the switch set to EXT REF.
