I’m a newbie with decklink hd in top slot of my G5 dual 2.5 3.5g ram fresh install of 10.4.4.
I see good hdcam input from sdi in deckcontrol but don’t seem to have sd ntsc output to my dsr1500 recorder with sdi in.
I’ve tried to configure things in blackmagic preferences but don’t seem to have 59.94 1080i. I’ve set it to blackmagic 1080i 29.97 10 bit to see a ntsc out but no dice.
Anybody know what I’m doing wrong?

    Hi,

The E-E output of the card when you’re digitising does not down convert. However, once you’ve captured the clip and play it out through Blackmagic Deck Control or Final Cut Pro, the HD video can be down converted.

    Thanks for the answer.
This is bad news indeed as I need a realtime downconverter for offline editing.I misunderstood badly the advertising that came with the decklink HD description before I bought this card. It is not very practical to capture many hours of hdcam material & then output to dvcam in a seperate process.

    Hi Glen,

There is real time down conversion on capture. You just select it in the “Input” drop down menu in the “HDTV Up/Down Converter” section of the Blackmagic DeckLink Preferences. Even though the E-E output of the card while capturing will still be in HD, the captured video clip is in SD.
