    Hi,

We built system spcifically for capturing uncompressed video from digibeta, and to sit on the network just rendering things for us. We used all the mimimum specs and more, and the recommended parts.

Aside from the recommended Asus SLi S939 board being imcompatible, we then tried the Abit equivalent which worked fine.

All was going well, until we tried to capture yesterday, and as soon as the Premiere capture window came up, the system crashed and rebooted.

Nothingon the system has changed so we are very confused. In fact, it is the first time the machine has been on in a month, and was not connected to the internet or anything. It has the 5.5 drivers on which I reinstalled just in case. No help.

The problem is very strange. The computer only reboots if the SDI input to the Decklink Extreme PCIe is connected.

If I disconnect it from the Digibeta, completely, or with the RS422 still connected and controlling the deck, it is fine. If I leave the Premiere capture window open, reconnect the SDI input to DL, the system immediately reboots.

Sometimes I get a brief flash of BSOD, and the system is complaining about “serial.sys” causing problems. But I don’t understand why.

In the end, we had to capture to QT using the BM utilities outside Premiere, and this was fine. It’s only inside Premiere the problem occurs. I would prefer to stay inside Premiere.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

I have read up that serial.sys not only details with the interrupts and permissions of com ports (all disabled in the BIOS) but also that it deals and can have issues with multiprocessor systems.

This setup i ahve described is am Athlon X2 3800 cpu….
