  Decklink Extreme HD + HDlink + FCP + HDV – Advice please.

  Hi,

  Apologies if this has been answered before, but i have searched and looked through this forum, but couldn’t find a definative answer.

  I edit DV at the moment and am upgrading to HD over a matter of time. One of the companies i freelance for has just bought a Sony Z1.
  Currently i have Dual 1.8 G5, 3GB ram, FCP 5.0.4 – I want to update my edit suite to edit HDV from the Z1.

  I’m proposing the purchase of a Decklink HD Extreme card and a HDlink converter.
  I believe this will allow me to edit the HDV footage and display it on my HD LCD screen, which has an HDMI input, and also output sync’d sound through my monitor speakers.
  Am i correct?

  The only other issue i have is if my G5 will cope with the PCIe card. If not, is there an alternate card that will do all of the above?
