    Hi,

    Firstly.

I’m going to be using a Decklink Extreme HD card soon to be capturing from a component video source using standard “everyday” cable inputs – am I right in thinking that I will need to aquire BNC Female to RCA Female adapters in order to do this?

    Secondly.

I am considering external storage options for the capture of video – and while I cannot stretch to a full on RAID option, will an external firewire 800 drive such as the Lacie 2TB Bigger Disk or the G-Tech G-Raid 2-500gb suffice?

    Cheers,

    Dan 🙂

The connectors on the BMD breakout cable have female BNC ends. You should be able to find the adaptors at a Radio Shack or other electronics store. I don’t have a G-Tech drive, but have read good things about them. A 2-drive external raid might be OK for standard def work, but might not give you real-time HD. Here is a link to the BMD info on data rates and you can compare it to the G-Tech specs.
