  • Decklink Extreme 3D card and Resolve for playout?

Ok is anyone able to do Resolve to tape playouts with the Decklink 3D Extreme card via it’s 9 pin RS422 port?
Ours won’t talk to our Sony HDCAM or the Sony HDCAM SR deck we hire in. It just doesn’t see the decks.
It will work with a local DVCAM deck connected but I never see a need for a resolve playout to DVCAM!

    Never tried it.
Can you control the decks via Final Cut, your usual editing NLE (obviously not FCX) or Blackmagic’s Media Express software?

    I work with Pat
    Its a Windows Resolve setup
We are finding the deck control not perfect few frames off in Media Composer and have relied on separate com port for that
Yet to get the blackmagic extreme card to work with anything except an old dv deck through 9pin

For some reason the Resolve and the decklink card want to see a “Live” video signal to be able to see the deck and switch over to let you lay off to tape. I have been trying to lay back to a AJA kipro Rack. I put on bars and tone and set the resolve up to edit to tape. Once the software thinks for a moment it sees the deck. I then turn off bars and tone on the Kipro and Resolve will let me set in and out points and start to insert. However I cannot get my playback to not drop frames yet. I find the decklink card to be very touchy feely compared to my experience with AJA cards and software. I wish there was more feedback that it has locked to the deck and that the sync is right.

it works for us on the Linux resolve haven’t tried on a mac one but it is a bit tricky .
    # if you want to insert a clip you should write down the in and out by going to the recorder and then connect and try to input the in and out points as fast as you can or else you lose the sync and you have to connect again . sometime going frame by frame gives you time to input the in and out point and then add event and record.
    # for assemble connect go frame by frame give in point (make you have made a note of the in point )add event record.
I had lot of problems with this page as we do a lot of tape transfer of our projects and had even asked davinci help to give a dedicated tape in and out space whether the tape is connected or not as on version 8.
