    Hi,

DeckLink Macintosh 5.1.2 drivers have been released and are available from the Software Downloads page. This is a minor update with verified support for Final Cut Pro HD 5.0.3, QuickTime 7.0.3 and a bugfix for 3:2 pulldown which wasn’t working in the previous drivers.

“Time Code Reader and Frame Count Display in Blackmagic Deck Control”

What does that mean? Is there a tool in the BM driver that can display timecode at capture?

I installed the new drivers and had a problem.

When I played from the timeline everything was fine, but when I paused, the mid-range blacks jumped up 5 or so IRE.

When I played again the mids dropped back down to normal levels. Only the mids seemed to be affected as the highlights and low blacks did not change.

Had to re-install 5.0 drivers to continue working and haven’t had time to try again.

    Is this a known problem?

Do you have overlays on the canvas turned on? I was having that problem too. When I turned off overlays, it played(paused) with no shift.

I just tried it along with 10.4.3 on our guinea pig system. No problems so far. I’m not seeing any luma shift during a pause. And I do have TC and title-safe overlays turned on.

I’m using Blackmagic Photo-JPEG timeline which uses RGB rendering. I haven’t tried other formats.

Guys, from my experience, the Luma shift is a known bug in FCP , not a BMD issue.
The problem is with the Range Check overlay (Control Z) … best bet is to turn it off.

Outrageous really … a tool specifically included to indicate bad levels actually causing your levels to shift if you turn it on!

I’m sure no-one need telling but … use proper scopes when you’re color correcting.

    Hope it helps

    Hi,

Please launch Blackmagic Deck Control and capture some video. Now play it back in the left window of Deck Control and look immediately above the left window to see the timecode. Click on the time code to see the frame number. This is very useful when working with FrameLink and you want to find a particular frame.

    I agree Andy,
It’s the most amazing thing about Apple bugs – their irony.
They make incredibly powerful software, easy to use, at the forefront of technology blah blah blah… but!
Their Chroma/Luma level checking software (range check) displays incorrect Chroma/Luma values when turned on.
Their Media Manager takes any reversed clips and gives them a random speed and a duration of 1 frame, regardless of how long the master clip was.
Their 10bit timelines, used for highly accurate colour rendering actually renders digital green blemishes all over the screen when used in combination with a couple of (supported) plugins.
And only a year or so ago Final Cut’s EDL generation created useless EDLs if you had any transitions in the edit…

Don’t get me wrong, I love em, and this isn’t just a flaming session – but seriously… the irony baffles me…
