Deck Will Not Accept Tapes
Hi,
I am working with a SONY DSR-11 tape deck, which actually worked fine yesterday. Last night, we had a drastic drop in temperature–below freezing–and now the deck will not accept any tapes. We open the door, and it inserts, then seconds later spits it out.
The manual suggested leaving the door open and letting it acclimate to the new temperature for over an hour. It’s been 3 hours and the deck still won’t function. We have put it in a warmer area for the night, but we are hoping someone has had/resolved a similar problem.

How much did it drop? Was the deck outside? Could have been frost formed inside… like when you come outdoors and have to scrape your car windows…. .
Give it overnight @ room temperature… and then turn it on for a good 20 minutes so the electronics warm up. I don’t know much about the insides of a tape deck, but *severe* cold might have cracked some plastic/rubber bits of the tape path?

Set it to display on screen and see if the due sensor cursor is blinking.. It probably needs to sit in a warm dry place with the door open although the manual warns you not to leave the door open facing any light (so don’t put a light bulb in front of it to warm it up!)
