I use threee cameras to shoot footage, a Canon GL1, a Canon GL2, and a Sony VX2100. I have been sharing the capture duties, equally, with each camera. I want to buy a small DV camcorder to do all of my capture work. I am consistant with using only Maxell mini DV tapes in all cameras. I am currently using Vegas 5 for capture, editing, and print-to-tape. My question is this, does it matter which brand of small camcorder I buy for capture? In other words will there be issues if I use a JVC camcorder to capture video shot on the Canon cameras? Does Panasonic work with Canon but not Sony footage? Or does any of this matter? I’m looking for opinions on which camcorder to buy, that will work well with both my Canon and Sony cameras. Any opionions on the Sony line of small camcorders? I may go that route, thinking that Sony will work with Vegas and my VX2100, as long as it will handle the footage from the Canons. Plus I would have a good quality small Sony camcorder to use for shooting family stuff. Any help would be much appreciated!

You should have no compatabilty problems from one cmacorder to the next providing that you do not shoot in LP mode.

Thanks Gary for the reply. I figured that was the case, but wanted to make sure. By the way, just wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed your DVD training on Vegas 5 and DVDA2. These training DVDs have been VERY helpful. Best investment I have made, aside from buying Vegas in the first place. If and when I buy Vegas 6, or more than likely Vegas 7, I’ll be ordering your training DVDs. Thanks again.
