  • Deck control issue with BetaDeck / DecklinkSP and Keyspan USB adapter

    To whom it may concern,

I just purchased the rs-232 cable and adapter made by pipelinedigital. I plugged it into the keyspan USB serial adapter (with the latest drivers loaded) and then plugged that into a Sony Betacam UVW1200 player. I opened up Final Cut Pro and put my capture settings at “BlackMagic NTSC 29.97” and my Capture/Input settings to Blackmagic NTSC – 10 bit. (I ordered the BlackMagic DecklinkSP card for capture.) When I run FInal Cut Pro and try to log and capture it is saying “no communication” Have anyone run into this issue before? Thanks.

The Decklink SP snake has a built-in rs232 cable… just hook it directly to the beta deck. No usb adaptor needed.

The problem is that the UVW1200 doesn’t use rs232. It uses rs422. That’s why I got the usb to serial converter and then the cable with the adpater. That’s what others have recommended. I just can’t get the program to recognize it.

DeckLink SP does RS422. Note specs:

If you mean RS232 for the Keyspan…

    1. Install Keyspan driver
    2. In FCP, go to Audio/Video Settings, and create a device control preset that references the Keyspan.
(haven’t done it in awhile, but once the Keyspan is available, it should pop up as a choice in one of the device toggles)
