  • Deciding between sequence set at NTSC 3:2 OR NTSC DV 4:3

Posted by David Notowitz on March 17, 2010 at 7:08 pm

It’s been awhile since I worked with SD, and I need to choose a setting for creating and outputting a photo/(archive) video montage to DVD for projection on standard definition video.

For best final quality of image, should I set my sequence to NTSC 3:2 or NTSC DV 4:3?
Besides the obvious difference with ratio, what is the difference?

    Thanks,

Well if your sequence is DV then leave the preset what it is.

I would do it in prores. again leaving that ratio alone.

Thank you so much. I’ll change the compression to Pro-Res but keep the ratio as it currently is.

    Anyone else with thoughts?
    Have a great day!
