December 2, 2013 at 6:33 pm[Andy Branner] “The other two are brilliant.”
thanks for the tip, I can see where Michael Wohl might be a good resource for me.
[Michael Wohl]“I think there are quite a few really nice, new features in Final Cut Pro X. I’m not referring to the obvious, flashy ones, like the Magnetic Timeline—the way things move out of the way when you drag them around—I’m not really impressed with that. I mean it’s cool and it looks good and for some editors it’ll prevent a certain number of mistakes.”

December 2, 2013 at 6:35 pm[Marcus Moore] “Most of the trainers don’t get early access to the maintenance releases.”
I could have sworn Larry mentioned not having advanced info on the next big feature release at a LACPUG meeting so he was free to speculate.

December 2, 2013 at 7:06 pmThere was a prerelease version of the MacPro, but it fetched a rather high price:

I think that’s already been well-evidenced.

December 2, 2013 at 7:53 pmMy hope is that we can order tonight at midnight. That would be awesome – then the day it ships the new FCPX 10.1 comes out. It’s really important that these deliver and bill before the end of the year so that small biz’s like our can write them off in our 2013 taxes.
I think end of year tax deduction purchases will help Apple get a nice bump in sales. I think they’re very aware of that. I just hope they’ve made enough of them.
Here’s a q – I have one suite that will be specifically for graphics creation and another that will be mostly editing in FCPX. Should I get a 6 core for editing and 12 core for graphics? Based on benchmarks that would get the best performance for each task, right?

While 4 and 6 core models say coming December in Apple Store, 8 and 12 core not listed at all. I can’t help but think they’d be up by now if pricing and availability were going to be this month. Even if the pricing goes online my gut says they won’t be immediately available for the end of year tax write off.

December 2, 2013 at 8:22 pmThat’s not necessarily indicative of anything.
Larry’s presentation at IBC was on September 15th. If FCPX 10.1 were to launch tomorrow, that will still be over two and a half months ago. I have no idea how long any of the trainers who receive early access get the software before launch, but it could be very conceivably be less time than that. So Larry could have been completely truthful that he hadn’t see anything– yet.
Let’s not confuse trainers with beta testers for Apple, who help the dev team work thru bugs and workflow issues; and who see the software well before reviewers and trainers.

December 2, 2013 at 8:27 pmAgreed. But there’s a difference between launching in time for holiday shopping and year end.
As long as you hit the “buy” button before the end of this year- you’re good.
Remember Apple initially conservative estimate on getting the iPadMini Retina out the door. “End of November” is what they promised. But they had that thing on sale by November 12.

I sure hope you’re wrong :).

December 2, 2013 at 8:31 pmNo way. I can’t see them launching without 8 and 12 core options.
