Hi there, do you have any tips on using MPeg4 files for edit in FCP? (Given that it is not an editing format)

As it is, I have to render everytime I put MPeg4 files into an MPeg4 timeline and whenever I lay one track of footage over another and again when I move clips about – it’s an absolute pain!

It might help to explain that these files were created by ripping a DVD with Handbrake – my only option to source some documentary footage I’m editing.

Any help/ideas would be gratefully received.

    Many thanks,
    Chris

    Hi David,
I’m new to this forum and have not been able to find your reply to this post. I am teaching a unit on film genres and I too am using handbrake to rip short clips into avi files to be edited in FCP. Is there a way to get around the long rendering times?

    Thanks.
