Deal on AE?
Posted by Sean141 on October 9, 2007 at 4:34 pmI was just wondering if I should get this suite I seen on Amazon. Adobe production premium is $899 from two of these stores who go through Amazon. The one store says it has “education” imprinted on the side of the box but it’s 100% genuine. Will this have all the same features and stuff as the regular retail full version that cost almost twice as much or is this something I should pass up?
I didn’t know Adobe production premium had an academic version…(I don’t know the difference between the two anyway.)

October 9, 2007 at 4:58 pmI orderd an education version off of campus tech and it has all the features, but is that because there is a difference between Academic discounts and Education, dont know? Just wanted to let you know.

October 9, 2007 at 6:59 pmi think the education version used to be the same as the standard version (but with a discount and a promise that you would not do paid work witht he educational version)… but now, since there is only one version of ae (the pro version) i guess every one gets whole bundle.

October 10, 2007 at 1:25 amWell….like I said, I seen the deal on Amazon and not through some education software site. (I’ve seen those before.)
They had no mention of terms to buy it. There are two different stores selling it on there for that price and only one mentioned that “education” was imprinted on the box. You know where it says something like….”26 new and used starting at $x.xx” and then you click on it and it shows all these stores selling the same thing at different prices.
So…I guess this is a heck of a deal after all. Thanks guys! -

October 10, 2007 at 8:00 amYes but you still have to activate/register it direct with Adobe, and if you can’t prove you’re part of an accredited college, university or school then I don’t think they’ll let you use it.
Best check it out first.

October 10, 2007 at 8:41 pmYou might have problems upgrading to CS4 down the road. I don’t know if they let you upgrade an academic version for the regular price… better check with Adobe.

October 10, 2007 at 11:38 pmWell I asked someone who bought an education version, they said it’s a full version and when they registered…it wasn’t a hassle. Just a run-of-the-mill register. No academic questions were asked.
Retlaw….Now that, I don’t know about. That’s a very good point.

October 11, 2007 at 1:44 pmSo, do we think it’s only an issue if you’re a non-student buying an educational version direct from Adobe’s site then?
I’m getting on Amazon when I get my home setup sorted then! Unless this upgrade thing is a problem…I fear you may be right Retlaw.
