anyone use deadline to manage an AE render farm?

we have 4 duel, duel-core opteron render nodes running the trial of deadline, and they are disapointingly slow! i ran a comp on 3 of them at once through deadline, and the same comp simultaneously on the 4th node running AE in the usual way, and the lone render node rendered literally about 10 times faster than the other 3 put together. any suggestions?

    many thanks,
    alex

I’ve never used Dealine before, but I do have one question for you. How are each of your machines accesing the footage used in the project and the .aep itself? It seems that maybe the files are stored locally on the one machine that seems to render faster than the others, and maybe the others are slowing down because they are accesing the footage and project file over a network. This is just a guess I could be totally wrong.

all footage is stored on a remote server, regardless of what is accessing it.
    cheers,
