May 22, 2009 at 12:10 pmHi Jon.
Did you see he video? Yes I opened the file in AE as a project. Just like the dynamic link tutorial.
I can´t seem to figure out what I am doing wrong.. But when I manually copy the clip in AE and paste it in the PPro timeline, a dynamic link is created, but the changes I make in AE still doesent reflect in PPro.Even when I eksport the file. Thanks a lot regarding the interlace tip.I did as you describe. My clip on the project panel I selected the “interpret footage” and the value was set to off. So I choosed Lower field fir DV and I checked the preserve edges box. Then I dragged the clip down to the timeline panel and went to a frame to see if there was some changes made. Im affraid the interlace is still there. Do I have to render it first to see the changes??
Thanks so much Jon.
Best regards Hamid

May 23, 2009 at 8:15 amI did see your video. and you were importing the PPro project into AE. For what you are wanting to do (have it in PPro and update when you make changes) you have been using Dynamic Link wrong.
You need to work with the actual video clip not the project in AE.
I wrote down the process in previous response but here it is again.
In PPro:
Go to clip in the timeline.
Right Click.
Select “Replace with After Effects Composition”
It will open AE for you. Continue the process with AE.
Go back to PPro and look at the timeline where the clip was, there is now a Dynamic Link to the AE composition.
Go back to AE
Add an effect to the clip in the composition (hue saturation and drag the saturation down to -100) so the clip is now Black and White.
Go back to PPro
See the clip is now Black and White
Go back to AE
Remove the Hue Saturation effect (delete it)
Go back to PPro
See the clip is now Coloured again.
The link is working properly by sending the clip to AE instead of opening the PPro Project file in AE.
Check the Interpret footage in AE as discussed in previous email.
Do the Keying you want with Keylight
It should update properly now.
If you are still seeing the interlacing issues now that you are using the actual video clip in AE and not a link to the project let me know and supply all the information from the properties of the clip.

May 23, 2009 at 3:06 pmYes Yes yes!!! Thank you so much Jon. It finally worked, just as you said it.
Replace clips instead of opening project in AE. But I dont understand I followed the tutorial which someone in this forum posted to me.!?
Anyway I am so happy. Would any effect I apply in AE appear out in PPro when I eksport it?? I mean, can PPro handle all AE effects, animations etc.?
By the way, to see the interlace issue again, I need my green screen, so I will try it out tomorrom or the next day. I just shot a clip of my self and applied some lightning effect comming out of my hands and back in PPro I eksported it as AVI and here there was no interlace to see. Also this clip is dark, I dont know if that have something to say about it.
I will get back to you on that if thats ok with you J?
I know maybe the words dont mean much to you, but thank you so much again, you have really saved me time and anger management 🙂

May 24, 2009 at 11:18 amBy the way Jon. This may be a stupid question. But does it work the same way around? I mean if I have multiple AVI clips and I start a project/new comp in AE, and I after all my editing I want to get it to PPro, can i do the same thing with the replace clips option??

May 24, 2009 at 11:22 amHey Hamid,
Short answer is no.
You can import the separately made AE comp and then Dynamic Link it to PPro manually.
There is no option in AE to Replace clips with PPro Sequence.
You can probably copy all the clips in your AE comp and paste them into a PPro sequence, but that means you won’t have many compatible AE plugins that will work properly with the clips once they are in PPro.

May 24, 2009 at 12:52 pmHi Jon
What exactly do you mean by “Dynamic Link it to PPro manually.”??
Well I guess If I can make multiple clips I Captured in PPro, from there I can “replace with after effect” so that I can make all the edit in AE and the effects should appaer in PPro.
what is the best aproach if I shoot multiple shots and I want to edit them toghether in AE and still have use of the dynamic link??
Regards Hamid
DenmarkP.S When you are finished and save both in PPro and AE. Is there a specific way to close down the application without having issues with the other because of the dynamic link?
