  • DDR/tapeless playback options for broadcast?

    Hello,

We may be producing a short, one minute daily broadcast and are looking to replace the aging tape decks.

The decks are used for animated background playback only…so new material is rarely loaded. Ultimately, we’d be playing back about 5 different clips during the broadcast…again, totaling one minute

As of now, everything is deadrolled but I wouldn’t mind the ability to trigger clips as need be.

Anyway, so far I was looking at the Grass Valley Turbo iDDRs and similar offerings from Doremi…are there other options I should be pursuing?

    Thanks!

    hi jason.

at first we had a little party when our last doremi left the facility we ritually burned the machine on the barbecue. i guess this says enough about what we think about doremi 😉

as bob suggested the ki-pro is a very nice product.

if you are thinking about a turbo please have a look at the new T2 of grassvalley. same type of machine but al the things you miss on a turbo are added like HD-SDI ,embedded audio ,aes/ebu
price starting at $12,980 <== which is nice but not for your aplication i think. https://professional.grassvalley.com/products/t2/

if you only need SD my old time favorite is the Rosendahl-bonsaidrive
we own these things and they have never failed.
Simple GUI and amazing option’s for sync playback whit more machine’s. like lipsync correction ability to quickly stripe new TC under a track etc. price about $2500 warning this is without SDI and LANboard.

    Thanks everyone.

The KiPro is an interesting option…it would be great to keep everything ProRes. I notice the 422 control isn’t active yet, but I’ve got some time so maybe it would get there.
