    Hello,

I’m editing a film based on still photographs in 4K at a 1:66 ratio. My timeline is at 4096 x 2458 (square pixels). I’ve just learned that I’ll need to provide a cinema DCP as the output. I’ve googled around and found some common formats for 4K DCP, the least wide of them being QuadHD 16:9 which is 1:77. I’ve never exported to DCP before and I’d like to know if it’s a flexible format which would accept a 1:66 timeline or if I’m looking for trouble and should switch to 1:77 instead.

    Thanks a lot.

P.S. Creative Cow webmaster : writing “dcp” correctly shouldn’t be detected as being all-caps… 🙂

The specced flat (1.85:1) resolution for 4K DCPs is 3996×2160. You’ll have to either crop it or scale it to fill that resolution. UHD 3840×2160 is not in the DCI specification but it is DCI compliant.

Thank you. I’m not sure I understand the difference between being compliant and being in the specs. Do you mean that the resolutions listed here are not necessarily supported by all projectors?
