    I’ve shot my first commercial for tv. I’m taking all my audio and leveling it. All of my audio is voice over. I’m wondering what my dB range should be. Forgive me for my ignorance if I’m not asking the right thing, what I’m assuming is that I want the voice to always be in a particular range, say between -12dB and -6dB…. So when the ad plays the audio is in line with the previous audio clip…

    I’m assuming there’s a general standard.. .I’ve just sent an email to the advertising department who will be doing the broadcast asking them what the peak dB should be…

    Hi Joe –

    It varies from station to station – just about every station I’ve ever dealt with has a standard PDF, either posted on their website, or available from the Production or Sales Manager, with all the specs you need to know. Here’s an example of one:
