  • Davinci XML set to 24 instead of 23.976

    Hello,
I Am using 9.1.1 OS X.. I export a 1080p23.976 sequence using XML from Premiere. I grade, render out, and export fcp 7 XML from Davinci.
When I import back into Premiere CS6, the resulting time is set to 24 instead of 23.976fps. How do I get it back to 23.976 from Davinci?

BTW I set the project/conform/time code setting all to 23.976. And the imported XML reads as 24 in Premiere…

This seems to be a bug in the XML re-write. Open the (Resolve) XML file (text editor) and check the status of NTSC (true or false) and change that value — I think to “true” and you should get 23.98 when you open the XML back in Premiere. This was discussed on the Basics and Config forum.

Another workaround is to set your sequence settings in resolve first to 23.98 and deselect “automatically set sequence settings ” on XML import as it seems to me that’s where it’s happening. BMD have been silent on this bug. Maybe it’s fixed in Resolve 10

Thanks Joseph and Paul, for your solutions. They all worked. I must say that I enjoyed getting into the XML code and hacking around a bit 😉

    I definitely hope this is fixed in Davinci X – I Mean – 10.
    😉

    Best regards,

I know this is kind of late but I have been having the same problem with individual clips, not an XML. I import a .cine file with 24fps, and I want to export 23.976 (don’t ask me, it’s the editor’s required frame rate). Everything in Davinci is set to 23.976 until it is exported, but the resulting .mov is 24fps when opened in quicktime, or any editing software.

    Thanks,

    Jackson
