    I’d say the draw of a single 690 is less than a q4000 + 470. None of my configs use power splitters. You’ll note I don’t mention the gtx590 which would be outside the macpro power envelope, as would the 580 classified.

    BTW using gt120s for GUI in all but Cubix config.

    Not long… the stock cable is 1m, and i believe they have a 3m extended cable.

    thanks everybody for suggestions it really helped me the most
    i decided to get GTX 570 from macvidCards

    so i’ll work with Q4000 + GTX570
    with totally internal power

    i think it will be great with RED footage on HD timeline
    with great number of corrections
    also we got SAN storage i think fiber channels will do other part of
    fasts the performance

    So, wich is the best according to you: 4 giga Evga 680 or the base 2 giga model?

    hey Ahmed

    you can’t run those 2 cards together on internal power. The 570 has two 6 pin connectors and the Q4000 has one. The Mac Pro only has two 6 pin connections on the motherboard. I would not recommend splitting the power to run these 2 cards. You will need additional power such as this:

    Yep. Without the GUI card you wouldn’t get full advantage of the 690.
