  • DaVinci Resolve conflict with CommandSoft FibreJet

    I need to use DaVinci Resolve and run CommandSoft FibreJet. Not always at the same time but I do go back and forth with the purpose of my mac. Sometimes my mac is a FCP editing bay other times it is an Online station.
    I was working fine with FibreJet until I installed DaVinci. DaVinci ran fine but when I tried to go back to FibreJet it gives me “Shared memory failed to initialize with factors 1 50, defaults will be reset to minimum. Reboot and try again. FibreJet had a serious problem starting.”

    Two questions,

    1. How do I reset for FibreJet to work properly? (I have tried un-installing DaVinci and re-installing FibreJet but it did nothing.)

    2. Besides buying a new system to run as my Online station with DaVinci, does anyone know a solution where one doesn’t kick out the other when on the same mac?

    Thanks-
    Eileen

    Hi, you should contact your CommandSoft FibreJet supplier and discuss the settings for the shared memory configuration which will be compatible with the PostgreSQL server and CommandSoft FibreJet.

    For the technically minded, there is a section on Mac OS X here

    https://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.4/static/kernel-resources.html

    These settings are stored in the /etc/sysctl.conf file on your Mac.

    You can try replacing what is currently in your /etc/sysctl.conf file with this:

    kern.sysv.shmmax= 67108864
    kern.sysv.shmmin=1
    kern.sysv.shmmni=512
    kern.sysv.shmseg=128
    kern.sysv.shmall=16384

    These values came from Steve King of Commandsoft, and helped another customer with a similar situation. For that customer, these values allowed both the Fibrejet and Resolve software to function. Your mileage may vary…

    Oh god, Fibrejet.

    So glad I don’t have to deal with that anymore. Caused nothing but issues when I had to work with it.
