DaVinci – RED – VFX workflow
Hi
We are doing a feature. FCP – export EDL. Import to Davinci. RED files work fine.
Problem is how to setup workflow with VFX shots?
The VFX shots are done as Prores 4444 – but is there a way to replace the 3RD file in the DaVinci timeline with the new VFX Prores 4444 file?
How to people usually do such a workflow where grading and vfx work happens at the same time?

yeah, I’m having trouble with this too..
Config : Mac Pro 3,1, 8×2,8 Ghz, 12 Go Ram, Quadro FX4800, Decklink HD Extreme 3D , 8x1TB mini-SAS RAID5, DaVinci Resolve 7.02

You can try enable the editing mode in the Conform page and replace that RED shot with the ProRes444 shot. If you have any subsequent variations of the same ProRes444 VFX shots, just import into the mediapool and it will show up as a conflict with a C at the corner of the clip. You can then easily switch to the new shot.
You may want to create folders in the Browse page so that you know where the different shots are as dumping everything in the mediapool can be difficult when you try to find a particular shot.

If the ProRes shot preserves the name and timecode of the RED file, will it show up as conflict and/or be conformable via “conform to folders” feature?

I’m new to davinci… How to I replace a klip in the “timeline”… I know how to enable editing mode – but not how to come from there to actually replacing a clip.
