    Hello All,

Has anyone had success running raw red files with HDR in real time on the Davinci?

Mac Pro 12-core, 32 GB RAM
    OSX 10.6.8
    Resolve 8.1
    Red Rocket
    Cubix
    2 Quadro 4000’s

You need 2 red rocket for that (because the system have to decode 2 R3D streams ..)

Are you sure that is enough with 2?, or are you refering to 4k half and no 5k full?

If you need 2 redrocket for 5k full, maybe you need 4 for 5k full hdr.

I presume you are using Epic full 5K HDR footage. This currently requires a little over 1 rocket for one stream, and HDR is two streams, so you need a little over 2 rockets, which is 3.

If you don’t have full 5K, lower vertical resolution than 2700, you might be able to do it with 2 rockets.

If you are using software decode, then you will need fast CPUs and a low decode resolution, 1/8th perhaps.

Yes HDRX is 2 streams of R3D

2 RR will handle HDRX at 5K if 1/2 resolution is set in the config page …

otherwise if set to full , you need 3 RedRocket .

The footage is 5k red HDR decoding at half good through a red rocket card, soon to be two.
The new issue is I don’t have enough space in my cubix (PCI expander )for two red rockets, and two quadras.

Gabriele how are you configured with so many cards?

    Thanks,

    Chris J.

the cubix desktop 4 allow 4 cards

    you can have
    2 red rocket
    2 Nvidia card

but i found that having only very few shots in HDRX i prefer turning CACHE on for those shots (so i render this shots on the fly ) so you can use the second RR in another system if you have to ..

Sorry to bring this up again but I just wanted to make two clarification questions to the above post in regards to a system running 5k r3d Epic footage with one Red rocket card:

    1. When you have an epic 5k HDRX r3d in the Davinci timeline, and you do not invoke a second input node to grade HDRX, then presumably the Rocket card would only be providing only one 5k stream, right?

    2. In the above situation if your timeline is 1920 x 1080 and your R3d codec setting is “Full Res Premium”, then the red rocket would be rendering a full 5k picture down to 1920 for Davinci, and Davinici would therefore not be able to play realtime no matter what your hardware configuration was (as the Bottleneck would be in the Red Rocket)?

    Thanks,

    Marcus.
