I am working on a construction progress project for a client. They would like to have the date/time showing continuously on the video. From what I’ve read that’s not possible in fcp. Does anyone know different? I shot with a Canon XH-A1. Thanks!!

The date/time stamp from the camera metadata is not available in FCP. Of course if you have the information you could create a graphic and add that over the top of the video.

    All the best,

    Thanks Tom,
    That’s what I thought but I’m glad I checked.

If I had the time and date set correctly in my camera am I to believe that the information is recorded in the metadata and would be accessible for forensic purposes? If so, how is it accessible?
    Thanks!

“ProDate DV works only with DV QuickTime media captured from DV tape.”

Hopefully they’ll add support for more modern/current formats as time goes on.

DVMP Pro can do that and more for DV, HDV and AVCHD, but it’s for Windows only, although it may run OK VMWare Fusion or similar. There’s a demo version at https://www.dvmp.co.uk
