I’m working with converting AVCHD footage into another format such as either blackmagic QT codec, or Sheer Codec, or just plain uncompressed HD.

At which point does a standard FCP machine break? Standard DV codec is 3.5/mbs in which just about every computer and internet hard drive can handle, but what about much higher datarates? At which point must you go to a RAID based system? 50/mbs? 100/mbs? 300/mbs?

    Thanks.

Untill now I haven’t had any problem reading 10b Unc (Apple and Sheer) frm my LaCie’s FW400. Also the MICROCOSM NONE (64bits) plays wonderful. With HD I’ve got not experience.I think in not just a matter of the data-rate, but some codecs plays easier than others.
    Cheers,
