Data files on a network?
Is it possible to keep the data files somewhere on a network so that let can be accessed from my desktop and from my laptop and still have access to all the assets?

Hey there,
I’m assuming you mean, can the metadata live separately from the actual data?
The short answer is yes. The metadata is kept in a catalog file or published into the CatDV server.
The catalogs just hold the thumbnails and metadata. They only point to the data, CatDV doesn’t move or otherwise molest your data.
So the catalogs can be on a hard drive, or your desktop or on a server and they can be opened, searched and viewed while your data can live anywhere else. Perfect for tracking archives etc…
