Darker Sony Vegas Background
Posted by Roberta Fette on April 20, 2013 at 2:47 amI would like to darken my workspace background in Sony Vegas 12 in the same manner as Adobe After Effects and Premiere. I like the dark gray look as opposed to the light gray in Vegas 12. Is there a way I can make it darker? I’ve yet to find a solution other than changing my entire Windows theme.

April 20, 2013 at 9:42 amIf you want Vegas interface darker than the already dark theme
built in, the only solution is changing the entire windows theme,
that’s what i do…..Steve Rhoden

You need to disable the Aero interface and change to the Basic interface in Windows. Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize, then scroll to the bottom and select Windows 7 Basic. It will make your computer look like you’re running Windows 98 again but you will be able to change all of the window colors to anything you want. I personally hate it but that’s why it’s customizable. 😉

April 21, 2013 at 7:17 pmI don’t think there is much you can do in order to achieve a decent darker UI in Vegas. I have tried this several times under Win 7 and also Win 8 to no satisfaction.
The Vegas UI definitely need some way to adjust the background darkness. I also would prefer it to be darker and making it adjustable, where we could each have it our way.
I was kind of getting tired of the Vegas color scheme and after 12 years of editing on a regular basis under Vegas, I found out recently that you can, to the very least, change the Track Display Colors which, for the time being, is making my Vegas UI look a little better. I do need some change once in while!

April 22, 2013 at 2:49 pmYou are wrong Robert, there are a couple safe Windows 7 Dark themes
that can achieve this.
I use the dark Windows 7 theme called “LIFE“, Graham.Steve Rhoden

April 22, 2013 at 5:33 pmI understand Steve, but I never managed to get something that was pleasant. Changing the Windows theme affects your entire Windows experience which I didn’t like and didn’t serve me well with Vegas. I would appreciate if you could post a sample of your Vegas UI.
But Vegas should have that feature built-in just like Premiere has. Let’s face it, you spend countless hours sitting in front of a UI, having some kind of adjustment to make it look darker (or brighter) should be a standard feature.

April 23, 2013 at 7:44 pmI also hope there will be a slider feature introduced soon,
to tweak the darkness and brightness of the Vegas interface.
Sorry, cant post a screenshot right now.Steve Rhoden
